TOURIST SALT
The island of Sal consists of four population points, whose tourist attractions extend along the island.
Its tourist offer is fundamentally based on its natural resources, such as the sun, the beach, the long coasts of white sand as far as the eye can see and also excellent mild climatic conditions throughout the year.
All of these features are excellent attractions for tourists from different countries and make the island the most touristy in Cape Verde.
EVENTS
Santa Maria Beach Festival
It is the culmination of the festivities of the Municipality of Sal, celebrated annually on the 15th of September. In recent years, it has become a world-class festival. In the two days that it takes place, always in a happy and very convivial environment, a varied range of national artists, in the diaspora and foreigners, flooding Santa Maria beach with good music and animation parade across the stage.

World of Salt Literature Festival
Promoted by the Municipality of Sal and designed by Rosa de Porcelana Editora and curated by José Luís Peixoto, the Festival of Literature-Mundo do Sal was designed with the intention of promoting dialogue between authors, scholars, translators and mediators of Literature-World (several contemporary literary works), in addition to valuing the island of Sal as an important cultural destination in the Atlantic.
Sal em Cena Theater Festival
It is an event that brings together groups from various islands to present their pieces, and as we all like to have a good laugh, this is a good reason. There are three days of a lot of theater and music, accompanied by strong emotions.
International Windsurf Championship
Annual event that varies from November to March, depending on the strength of the wind, which is essential for the realization of the same. At that time, sportsmen, journalists and tourists came from all over the world in order to participate and follow the championship closely. Throughout the event, parallel activities of entertainment, gastronomy, leisure, etc. are also carried out.
Religious Parties
In the city of Santa Maria, throughout the year, various religious festivals are celebrated, notably the Nossa Senhora da Fátima (May 13), among others.
The city also offers good restaurants where you can indulge yourself with the most varied exquisite traditional and international dishes, in addition to a strong nightlife, from bars, pubs, clubs and dacings. One can also find several other tourist and tourism support services.
Carnival (February or March)
Celebrated a little throughout the island, but it is in the Asparagus that most of the carnival groups are concentrated, which parade from the weekend before Carnival, until the day when King Momo is celebrated.
Religious Parties
Religious celebrations are also held in Espargos throughout the year (Nossa Senhora das Dores - 15 September, Nossa Senhora da Fátima - 13 May, Santa Cruz - 3 May, São João - 24 June, São Pedro - 29 June )
