The Municipal Assembly is the deliberative organ representative of the citizens of the Municipality of Sal.
The Municipal Assembly is elected by the electoral citizens residing in the municipal territory, according to the proportional representation system and aims to defend the interests of the citizens and to promote the well-being and quality of life of the population, in compliance with the Constitution and the other laws of the city. The plenary meetings of the Municipal Assembly are public and take place at its headquarters or in the Town Hall, and may also take place outside these spaces, in any location in the Municipality, upon prior notice in the media.

The deputy Nuno Lopes was this Monday elected president of the Municipal Assembly of Sal, through secret ballot, with 9 votes in favor, 7 against, and one blank, succeeding Carlos Santos.
The scrutiny took place during the work of the III Extraordinary Session of the Municipal Assembly, of the VII Mandate, in view of the resignation of the incumbent who had been in office, Carlos Santos.
