The urban park of the city of Espargos registered, today, June 17th, a different movement, hosting an educational and awareness-raising activity for the population to protect the environment, in which at least 300 tree seedlings were planted in the park. . The initiative of the Municipality of Sal to mark the World Day to Combat Drought and Desertification had the partnership and involvement of 29 children from the Kindergarten belonging to Casa de Solidariedade and Instituto de Língua Inglesa, as well as 20 young Scouts. It should be noted that, this year, the theme is "Restoration.Earth.Recovery.We rebuild better with healthy land" aims to demonstrate that investing in healthy land is a solution to ecological and economic recovery, and a smart decision. As is well known, the Celebration of this ephemeris was established in 1994, through the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), an international agreement that links the environment and development to sustainable land management. This day is celebrated with the aim of promoting public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. The anniversary is a unique moment that reminds us that it is possible to reverse soil degradation, through the will to solve these problems, community involvement and cooperation at all levels.
