- Monitor the implementation of cooperation protocols with universities and higher education institutions, at home and abroad, for the training of young residents and produce the respective follow-up reports;

- Organize and manage a database of students in higher education abroad and in the country within the framework of cooperation, twinning and partnership relations promoted by the municipality;

- Promote the holding and advertising of competitions for access to vacancies and subsidies for higher education in the country and abroad, within the scope of municipal regulations and within the framework of cooperation and partnership agreements;

- Issue technical opinions and perform other tasks determined by the higher education and cooperation area.

- Identify the offers of professional and vocational training abroad and in the country that meet the municipal training policy and the needs of the county's economy; f) Create training opportunities for operators in the informal economy, adjusting the offer to the specifics of the businesses in this segment and reorienting them when necessary;

- Promote, using recourse to companies and institutions dedicated to, professional training actions for citizens, preferably young people and women, under the terms of the support regulation for professional training approved by the City Council;

- Promote the signing of protocols with universities, professional training institutions and companies, for the offer of courses and actions for professional or vocational training;

- Promote the holding and advertising of competitions for access to vacancies and grants from the municipality for professional training in the country and abroad;

- Manage the Municipality's subsidy system for professional training;

- Monitor the implementation of cooperation protocols with entities in the country and abroad in the context of professional training and produce the respective follow-up reports;

- Organize and manage a database of trainees supported by the City Council in professional training actions in the country and abroad;

- Support the Evaluation Committee of the competitions for access to vocational or vocational training;

- Issue technical opinions and perform other tasks that are determined in the area of ​​professional training.

- Promote conditions for increasing children's access to the education system

pre-school by increasing the offer and socio-educational support to children from poor families;

- Ensure the management of the socio-educational component of municipal kindergartens;

- Streamline actions and projects that promote, within the framework of the competences of the municipality, the educational and personal success of the citizens and prevent exclusion and early school leaving;

- Promote the development and execution of a regular training program aimed at early childhood educators;

- Propose, with the support of specialized technical assistance, the status, career and remuneration of child educators;

- Prepare, with the support of specialized technical assistance and in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, the pre-school educational charter and ensure its monitoring, updating and review;

- Promote the realization of programs that captivate children's interest in science and technology;

- To issue technical opinions and perform other tasks determined above all in the area of ​​pre-school education.

- Keep parents and guardians informed of any incidents related to the trainees;

- Support the Evaluation Committee for competitions for access to higher education;

It is also incumbent upon the Education Services Directorate, under the direct guidance of the Councilor for the area of ​​Education, to superintend the municipal infrastructures linked to the areas within its competence, namely:

- Municipal Libraries;

- Professional School of Sal;

- Children's Gardens of the City Council;

- Santa Maria's library;

- Other Municipal Educational Infrastructures;
